Case Study - American Samoa Tsunami 2009

The 2009 Samoa Tsunami was caused by a 8.1 Mw earthquake that took place in the Samoa Islands region on September 29, 2009. It was the largest earthquake of 2009. The tsunami created substantial damage and loss of life in Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga.
Sprung’s reputation for design and delivery were called upon for 12 (twelve) - 30 x 60’ structures to replace schools on American Samoa that suffered wide spread damage caused in the September 29th Tsunami.

With structural design requirements that demanded 140 MPH wind loading as per IBC 2006, Sprung shipped all 12 structures complete with an 8” fiberglass insulation package and Tedlar coated membrane. The structures were shipped within 6 days from order and have made a major impact in bring education back to America Samoa.
